Funeral Services

Any location, any format

A funeral doesn’t have to follow a formula. We work with families to create meaningful farewells reflecting the needs of the family and the wishes of the deceased.  This could be at a special location in a natural setting, community venue or at home and include personalised rituals.

Why choose Linchpin Funerals?

Linchpin Funerals, supported by Picaluna, will listen to what’s important and guide you in making the right choices for you, according to your values and priorities.

There can be so many decisions to make after someone dies and this may be be overwhelming.

We can arrange any products and services that are important to you and will not try to sell you anything that isn’t.

A few examples:

Celebration of life

While you will miss your Dad, he had a great life and you want to celebrate what he achieved and the legacy he left.  Your family would like a non-religious funeral with the coffin present, at a venue with water views.  Faye will work with you to find a suitable venue, create an order of service and provide some tips on preparing and delivering a Eulogy.  As funeral director, Faye will arrange transport of the deceased into our care, help you choose the right coffin, flowers and hearse for the occasion, and arrange for your Dad to be cremated after the funeral.   As celebrant, Faye will work with you to create a personalised ceremony that reflects your Dad’s life and includes rituals, props and music that are meaningful to your family.

Religious funeral

Your partner’s faith was important to them and they were a key member of their religious community.  They would have wanted a traditional funeral at the place of worship they had regularly attended for many decades, followed by a burial in your family’s plot.  Faye will work with you and the clergy to arrange all logistics for the funeral and communicate details to the congregation, while your partner is in our care. Faye will also arrange the burial after the service.

Direct cremation

Your friend died unexpectedly and they have no family in Australia, or much money.  They wouldn’t have wanted any ‘fuss’.  Faye will work with you to arrange a direct cremation and return the ashes to you, which will be returned to their family overseas.

Eco funeral

Your sister was a nature lover and wanted to be returned to the earth as naturally as possible, to minimise her environmental footprint after her death as she did during her life.  Faye will work with you to ensure environmental impacts of your sister’s funeral are minimised, arrange an eco-burial, and help you choose a coffin made of sustainable materials.

Living wake

You have a life limiting illness and you are grateful that voluntary assisted dying is now an option for you when you get close to end of life.  You have always enjoyed hosting social gatherings and would like to arrange a living wake with your family and friends while you are still alive.  This will be the last party you host and you want it to be memorable.  Faye will listen to what’s important to you and work with you and your family to pull together a memorable, meaningful and modern ceremony that you can be part of, before you become too unwell to enjoy it.

Home funeral

Your Mum was the matriarch or your family and spent her life caring for others.  She died at home and you want to care for her yourself, as she cared for other family members previously.  You would like a simple funeral, with close family and friends, at your family’s property.  Faye will arrange for you to hire a cooling bed so you can keep your Mum at home for a few days after her death, and wash and dress her yourself.  You may want to decorate and personalise a cardboard coffin for her to be placed in for a home funeral.  Faye will arrange for your Mum to be either buried or cremated after the funeral, when your family is ready.

Memorial ceremony

Your son died suddenly in an accident.  You are in shock and deep grief.  You recognise the importance of honouring his life and providing an opportunity for your family and his friends to say goodbye to him, but you need some time to process what’s happened.  Faye can arrange a direct cremation and return your son’s ashes to you, then work with you to arrange a personalised memorial ceremony when you’re ready.

Repatriation

Your uncle’s wishes were to be buried in his home country, where he grew up and where other family members are buried.  Faye can work with you to arrange for his body to be repatriated.

★★★★★

From the moment I met Faye, it was clear that she wasn’t just a funeral director, she was a deeply compassionate guide through one of the hardest moments of my life. Her kindness, understanding, and unwavering support went far beyond anything I could have expected. She had an incredible ability to truly see who my mum was, what was needed to honor her, and how to make everything come together seamlessly. Faye handled every detail with such care compassion and thoughtfulness, ensuring that Mum’s funeral wasn’t just a service, but a perfect celebration of her life in the very way she would have loved. Faye navigated everything effortlessly, lifting so much of the burden off my shoulders while treating Mum’s memory with the utmost respect. She went above and beyond in ways I can’t even begin to put into words. Faye made what could have been an overwhelming and painful process into something beautiful, heartfelt, and truly reflective of my mum’s spirit. I will be forever grateful for her presence, her warmth, and the gift she gave to myself my family and mum. in honouring Mum’s farewell so perfectly. Couldn't recommend her more highly.

Tegan, Katoomba

I can't thank Faye enough for her outstanding support during a difficult time. She was incredibly warm, friendly, and professional, providing a comforting presence throughout the entire process. It is evident that Faye truly values her work, as reflected in her professionalism and genuinely caring approach. Her guidance was so valuable, and everything went smoothly without a hitch, from start to finish. Kylie was very helpful when taking my initial call and provided lots of helpful information and reassurance during such a confusing time. I wouldn’t change a thing about my experience with Picaluna, and truly appreciate the care and attention they gave to every detail. Faye coming to us to discuss the proceedings and deliver the ashes took away the stress of trying to coordinate distressed family members, and made the entire process so much easier. I highly recommend Picaluna Beautiful Funerals to anyone in need.
